Homework Policy
Students will have a homework folder. This folder will include choices for homework M.-Th. These choices will include different combinations of activities including reading, word work, writing and math games. Parents should star each activity that is completed nightly. Friday, folders will be collected at school. Stars will be added up as a class total and learning game time will be rewarded at the end of the school day on Fridays. There is no penalty for not completing homework and there is only the folder to turn in on Fridays. Families are encouraged to do homework as a fun, worthwhile activity together.
Dojo
Please check your child's Dojo each night. This is a great communication tool. It is also the program that we use in 2nd grade to document student's behavior. Points are given and taken throughout the day for the choices a student makes. Class and individual awards are given each nine weeks for points. An extra recess is also a reward that is given each nine weeks for students that have a positive behavior percentage of 85% or above. I will also send important information through this site and will often post pictures. Feel free to send any comments or concerns to me through Dojo as well. Information regarding transportation changes should be done in writing and sent to the office.
Toys
Please do not allow your child to bring toys, trading cards, or any electronics to school. If a student has one of these items out at school I will take it and contact you before returning the item. Thanks for your help!
Assessments
Assessments will be taken at the end of a unit of study and multiple tests can be given on each EL (important skill). I will send assessments home in their Take Home Folder on Wednesdays.
Data folders
Your child will keep track of their progress on the ELs in a folder. These folders will be sent home at Mid-term and with report cards at the end of each nine weeks grading period. The students will track their test scores on each EL taken in the nine weeks. Please feel free to send me any questions you may have through Dojo. We celebrate growth and strive to reach our own individual goals.
